ACCESS Allocation Request PHY200084

Abstract: The goal of this allocation request is the use Stampede2's SKX nodes to accomplish the following two objectives : (a) numerically examine the loop calculus approach to turbulent fields as this approach has recently gained renewed traction in both classical and quantum turbulence (b) develop numerical tools to study three-point correlations in the highly non-local setting of passive scalar turbulence . We request for a 9-month extension on the current allocation PHY200084 where we are post-processing some of the largest numerical simulations performed up-to-date involving as high as 500 billion grid points. This extension request is planned to lead into a large-scale computational request for a Maximize Opportunity during the December 15 - January 31 submission period with a start date of 04/01/24.

Allocations:

2023 TACC Dell/Intel Sapphire Rapids, Ice Lake, Skylake (Stampede3) 50,000.0 Node Hours
2023 TACC Long-term tape Archival Storage (Ranch) 2,000.0 GB
The estimated value of these awarded resources is $10,100.00. The allocation of these resources represents a considerable investment by the NSF in advanced computing infrastructure for the U.S. The dollar value of the allocation is estimated from the NSF awards supporting the allocated resources.
2020 TACC Dell/Intel Knights Landing, Skylake System (Stampede2) 124,314.0 Node Hours
2020 TACC Long-term tape Archival Storage (Ranch) 500.0 GB
The estimated value of these awarded resources is $32,296.91. The allocation of these resources represents a considerable investment by the NSF in advanced computing infrastructure for the U.S. The dollar value of the allocation is estimated from the NSF awards supporting the allocated resources.
